St. Blaise
1740
Maria-Trost church, Berg bei Rohrbach, Austria
In his mitre and cope St. Blaise holds the crozier in his left hand. These signify his role as a bishop. The candle in his right hand is one of his attributes, referring to a ritual blessing of the throats of the faithful commonly observed on his feast day, February 3.
